Amount of Coffee consumers rise dramatically in 2019
Flavia Santoro – head of Trade, Investment and Tourism Bureau in Columbia (one of the ten world’s biggest coffee producers) said recently that China has been one of the largest coffee consumption countries according to data from National Association of coffee producers of Columbia. Chinese coffee consumption has raised from 26,000 ton in 2006 to 128,000 ton in 2018. Columbian coffee sales reached 400 ton 12 years ago, and the figure is expect to exceed 2,000 ton this year.
Nowadays, coffee becomes part of our life, and the root reason goes to Chinese youngsters’ ever increasing love to coffee.
According to official research on Chinese coffee consumption in 2018 and 2019, the main coffee consumers are post 85s (aged 30-34) and post 90s (aged 20-29) in first and second tier cities. 42% of them would have 3-6 cups of coffee per week.
What’s coffee consumers’ favorite among all the brands? Well, it shows that Starbucks ranks first among all the chain coffee brands due to its early marketing activities in China, followed by Luckin Coffee – the new retail coffee brand.
We face a variety of choices in the ever growing domestic coffee market. More and more youngsters prefer cheaper and more convenient products with the same quality.
According to research, consumers will spend 16-35 yuan on a cup of coffee with good quality and taste. Potential coffee consumers will spend 16-25 yuan on that instead.
With the popularization of online coffee business, takeout market is thriving. 78% of the consumers are happy to try the new purchasing method which combines online and offline business.
Over half of the consumers purchase coffee through self-help taking, and it has been the new trend of coffee consumption.
